Dr. Mahar brings over a decade of experience in public education, having served as a teacher, assistant principal, associate principal, and principal at both middle and high school levels. She is a student-centered leader with a proven track record of improving academic performance, strengthening campus culture, and building inclusive, high-performing teams.

Originally from San Jose, California, and proudly of Mexican heritage, Dr. Mahar speaks Spanish and values the power of family and community engagement in student success. She holds a Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University Texas, a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Sam Houston State University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Government and Sociology from The University of Texas at Austin.

Dr. Mahar is passionate about creating safe, supportive, and academically rigorous environments where all students can thrive. She is excited to partner with the Etoile staff to build on our collective strengths and lead the campus to continued excellence. 

Outside of work, Dr. Mahar enjoys spending time with her husband and their two dogs. She loves traveling, working out, and being in or near the water, and values every opportunity to connect with friends and family.
